MHA Declares Hizbul Operative Asif Maqbool Dar ‘Terrorist’

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Saturday designated Hizb-Ul-Mujahideen operative Dr Asif Maqbool Dar as a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), 1967.

A resident of Jammu and Kashmir, Dar is currently based in Saudi Arabia.

Earlier on Friday, Arbaz Ahmad Mir, associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), was designated as a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) by the MHA.

Arbaz Ahmad Mir was the main conspirator behind the killing of Rajni Bala – a Dogra Hindu woman – who was a government teacher. She was shot dead in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district in May last year.

In a notification, the ministry said the PAFF had been regularly issuing threats to security forces, political leaders and civilians working in Jammu and Kashmir from other states.
