Axis Bank Chief Economist Neelkanth Mishra Appointed Part-Time Chairperson of UIDAI

New Delhi: The government of India on Tuesday appointed Neelkanth Mishra, Chief Economist at Axis Bank and Head of Global Research at Axis Capital, as the part-time Chairperson of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).

In addition, the centre also named Mausam, Associate Professor in the Computer Science Department at IIT Delhi, and Nilesh Shah, Managing Director of Kotak Mahindra Asset Management Company Limited, as part-time Members of UIDAI.

According to a notification from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, these appointees will hold their positions for a term of three years or until they reach the age of sixty-five, whichever comes earlier, starting from their assumption of office.

Neelkanth Mishra’s professional background encompasses a substantial career at Zurich-based Credit Suisse, spanning two decades. He held several key roles during this period, including co-head of APAC Strategy, India Equity Strategy Head, and Head of Research in India. An alumnus of IIT Kanpur, Mishra’s expertise brings a valuable perspective to UIDAI.

During the period from July 12, 2016, to April 15, 2019, J. Satyanarayana served as the part-time Chairperson of UIDAI. His tenure marked an important phase in the organization’s leadership.
