In the state of Rajasthan, Kota, another prominent coaching hub has witnessed a concerning increase in student suicides. So far this year, 23 students have taken their own lives in Kota, which is the highest number on record. Last year, this figure stood at 15.
Kota attracts over two lakh students annually who come to prepare for competitive exams such as the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) for engineering and NEET for medical college admissions. The recent surge in student suicides underscores the need for enhanced support and mental health resources for students facing the pressures of intense exam preparation in these coaching centres.
