‘Nitish, Lalu Approve?’: BJP Slams INDIA Over DMK MP’s ‘Hindi Speakers From UP, Bihar Clean Toilets in TN’ Remark

New Delhi: A video of DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran making seemingly disparaging comments about Hindi speakers from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar working as sanitation workers in Tamil Nadu has ignited a political firestorm. In the resurfaced clip, Maran suggests that those who learn English typically secure high-paying IT jobs, while those who primarily speak Hindi are relegated to menial positions like construction and sanitation.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) quickly seized on the video, with national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla questioning the bloc’s inaction against such instances and calling for leaders like Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav to take a stand.

Poonawalla further highlighted controversial statements from Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, emphasizing a broader trend of divisive narratives across political lines. Poonawalla argued that these incidents collectively reflect an agenda within the INDIA bloc to “divide and rule” while insulting cultural identities.

He also pointed out an alleged pattern within the INDIA bloc, citing a previous incident where another DMK MP, DNV Senthilkumar, targeted Hindi heartland states during a parliamentary session.

Maran’s remarks come amidst a growing tension between India’s northern and southern regions, fueled by a series of inflammatory speeches and statements from politicians across various parties. This latest controversy raises concerns about the potential for such rhetoric to exacerbate existing social divisions and negatively impact national cohesion.
