Rift Deepens As Sachin Pilot Threatens State-Wide Protests Over Corruption

Jaipur: Congress leader Sachin Pilot has given the Rajasthan government and Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot a 15-day ultimatum to act on corruption charges. Failure to do so, he threatened, would lead to state-wide protests.

Pilot recently concluded a five-day “Jan Sangharsh Yatra” to protest against the alleged corruption cases of the previous BJP government. Expressing dissatisfaction with the Gehlot government, Pilot stated that if their demands were not met, he would initiate a public agitation across the entire state.

Speculations have risen about Pilot potentially leaving Congress amidst growing differences with Gehlot. The rift between the two leaders dates back to the 2020 revolt, with Gehlot accusing MLAs involved in the revolt of taking money from the BJP.

Pilot has consistently criticised the Gehlot government on corruption issues, emphasizing the impact on students affected by question paper leaks. He highlighted the government’s failure to effectively address corruption and urged for action to be taken.

The Congress high command has urged Pilot to refrain from actions that may harm the party’s interests. They consider him a “huge asset” and have emphasized resolving internal issues rather than protesting against their own government.

The ongoing infighting poses challenges for the party as they prepare for the upcoming assembly elections in Rajasthan. With the growing rift between Gehlot and Pilot, the Congress faces difficulties in maintaining unity and winning the support of the voters in the state.
