Schools Closed As Delhi’s Air Too Dangerous For Children

New Delhi: Alarming air pollution in the national capital has compelled the Delhi administration to close down all primary schools in the union territory.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at a press conference on Friday declared that all primary schools in Delhi would remain shut from tomorrow until the air pollution situation improves.

Notably, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in the national capital is deteriorating day by day posing a serious threat to the health of all especially children.

The AQI on Friday plunged to a significant low of 472, according to air quality monitoring agency Safar.

Stubble burning in Haryana and other regions has been constantly blamed as the main reason behind air quality deterioration in Delhi.

Earlier, alarmed by abnormally high levels of air pollution in Delhi, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) on Thursday evening banned the entry of diesel trucks carrying non-essential goods into the capital.
