Bomb Threat at DPS Mathura Road Prompts Police Probe, Second in a Month

Mathura:Delhi Public School in Mathura Road received a second bomb threat via e-mail on Thursday evening, nearly two weeks after the first one. School officials immediately informed the police, who arrived on the premises with the bomb disposal squad. The police later confirmed that the bomb threat was a hoax.

An investigation into the e-mail’s sender revealed that the ID belonged to a student, who denied having sent the message. The police received information about the e-mail on Thursday, which read, “I am going to blast the school at 11 am on May 12.” According to a senior police officer, personnel from the police, bomb disposal squad, and cybersecurity team arrived at the school and checked the computer system and e-mail. The e-mail was received at 6.17 pm on Thursday.

Although two bomb disposal squads, sniffer dogs, and local staff members searched the premises, nothing suspicious was found. The police have stated that further technical investigation and inquiry are in progress.

This is not the first time that DPS Mathura Road has received a bomb threat via e-mail. In April, the school received a similar e-mail, which was also found to be a hoax. The police later traced the involvement of a schoolboy, who was released after counselling. The boy claimed that he had sent the e-mail for fun.
