SKM To Resume Farmers’ Protest Over MSP, Loan Waiver

New Delhi: The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), a prominent farmers’ organization, has declared its intention to revive protests over unresolved demands, including legal assurance for Minimum Support Price (MSP) and debt relief.

The group plans to present a memorandum to both the Prime Minister and the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha.

SKM aims to push for the implementation of the December 9, 2021 agreement signed with the Union government, along with other crucial demands impacting farmers’ livelihoods.

As part of their renewed campaign, SKM will distribute an updated list of demands to all Members of Parliament. Additionally, the organization has scheduled nationwide demonstrations on August 9, commemorating “Quit India Day” as “Corporates Quit India Day” to advocate for their charter of demands.

This resurgence of farmer activism echoes the significant 2020-21 protests led by SKM, signalling a potential new chapter in the ongoing dialogue between agricultural communities and the government over rural economic policies.
