Tanmay Sahu, Who Fell Into 55-Ft Borewell, Dies After Hrs Of Rescue Attempts

Bhopal: Eight-year-old boy, Tanmay Sahu, who fell into a 400-feet deep borewell on December 6 has died though he was taken out of it after over 65 hours of the rescue operation in Madhya Pradesh’s Betul. His body is being taken to Betul District Hospital.

The presence of stones across the area delayed the operation that lasted for more than four days.

The boy was playing on a farm when he went to another field and fell into the open borewell. Earthmoving machines were brought in to dig a parallel tunnel to get the boy out.

Tanmay Sahu remained stuck at 55 feet of the 400-feet deep borewell until he was taken out late Friday night. The child had died when the body was taken out, according to the district administration.

The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Home Guard, and local police personnel were deployed to rescue the boy over the past four days.
