Cyclone Mandous Completes Landfall, Persistent Rains Predicted Over TN & AP

Bhubaneswar: The landfall process for Cyclone Mandous has been completed, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday.

By midday today, the system is quite likely to track approximately west-northwestward before progressively weakening into a deep depression. Over the last six hours, the system travelled at an average speed of 8 kmph.

Meanwhile, winds of 55 to 65 kmph with gusts to 75 kmph are quite likely to blow along and off the beaches of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and South Andhra Pradesh. By noon today, the wind speed is predicted to drop to 30 to 40 kmph by noon today.

Further, most locations are expected to see light to moderate rainfall, with isolated locations in north interior Tamil Nadu, Rayalseema, and neighbouring south Andhra Pradesh likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall.
