Transforming Digital Payments Landscape, India’s Pride BHIM UPI Turns 6 Today

New Delhi: Today marks the 6th anniversary of Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM), an indigenously developed payment application. On this day in 2016, it was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Aadhar platform and the Unified Payment Interface are both used by the biometric payment system app known as BHIM to enable e-payments directly through a bank.

It can be used on any mobile device, whether it has an internet connection or not, including smartphones and feature phones.

Once the bank account has been connected to the Aadhaar gateway, payments using the BHIM App can be done with simply a thumb impression.

Over the past year, UPI transactions have become more popular. The value of UPI transactions in November of this year was 11.90 lakh crore rupees, while the volume of transactions was 7.30 billion.
