12 Hr Bandh in Kendrapara Demanding a City Hospital

Kendrapara: Normal life was disrupted in Kendrapara town on Tuesday because of a dawn to dusk bandh call demanding a city hospital for the inhabitants.

Medical Banchao Kriyanusthana Committee of Kendrapara had given this bandh call. The organization demands the old building of the District Headquarters Hospital in Kendrapara to be converted into a city hospital.

On January 9, all departments of the Kendrapara District Headquarters Hospital except Gynaecology and Blood Bank were shifted from the old building at Khadianga to new building at Samagudia. Now the locals are demanding the old hospital building to be converted into a city hospital.

The old building is now used an Urban Health Centre with OPD services during the morning and afternoon.

Because of the bandh call, all shops and business establishments in Kendrapara had their shutters down. Agitators blocked roads at different places stalling vehicular traffic. It affected the traffic on Cuttack-Chandbali main road.
