14-Yr-Old Boy Arrested for Killing 8 Persons in Mexico

A 14-year-old boy nicknamed “El Chapito” was arrested by Mexican police for the drug-related murder of eight persons near Mexico City.  According to information provided by the federal public safety department of Mexico on Thursday, the boy allegedly drove a bike on January 22 and opened fire on a family in the Mexico City suburb of Chimalhuacan.

Another man was arrested in relation to this mass killing of eight people on January 22. Seven other members of the gang were arrested on drug charges.

The victims were enjoying a birthday party at their house at the time of the shooting. Apart from the eight killed, five adults and two children were also injured.

As the accused is a minor, Mexican authorities did not reveal his name. But his nickname  “El Chapito” or “Little Chapo” hints at his links to imprisoned drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman.

The reason behind this mass killing has not been revealed. Drug gangs in Mexico usually get involved in kidnapping, contract killing, murder of rivals selling drugs on their territory, or people who owe them money.

In the past child-killers have been used by Mexican drug lords. In 2010, a 14-year-old boy nicknamed “El Ponchis” was nabbed. He was kidnapped at the age of 11 and forced to get involved in murders including at least four cases of decapitations.
