Nabarangpur: Nabarangpur district administration fired 24 teachers, who had remained absent from duty for 12 years. In recent past, 10 teachers had lost their jobs in Malkangiri district for not attending their duty for long periods.

Nabarangpur District Education Officer (DEO) had recommended the collector for strict action against these 24 erring teachers, who were not attending to duty for 12 years. All these teachers were absent from their duties without leave applications for years together. The State School and Mass Education Department had directed the DEOs to take action against those teachers.

The DEO had issued notices to 31 teachers of the district who had remained on leave for years together. Out of them, only 6 provided reasons for their absence. The other 24 did not prefer to reply. Newspaper advertisements were also published but none of them responded. So, they were fired from their jobs.
