3 Dead 6 Seriously Injured as Autorickshaw falls into Gorge in Gajapati Dist

Paralakhemundi: Three passengers died and six others were seriously injured when an auto-rickshaw lost control and fell into a 15-ft-deep ditch at Keradanga Ghat under Seranga Police station limits in Gajapati district on Friday.

The deceased Dali Kar, Luka Mandal, and a nine-year-old boy named Pratush Karji of Badapada, Kulesingh, and Jalanga villages respectively. The ill-fated auto-rickshaw was carrying nine persons including the driver. While negotiating a sharp curve at Keradanga Ghat, the driver lost control and the vehicle went off the road to fall into the deep gorge.

Police and fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot to take up the rescue operation. The injured were shifted to MKCG medical College and Hospital in Berhampur after first aid at Khajuripada Community Health Centre (CHC). The recovered the bodies were sent for post-mortem.
