3 Khalistani Extremists Get Jail Sentence in New Zealand for Plotting to Kill India-Origin Radio Host

Three Khalistan supporter extremists were convicted and sentenced to jail in New Zealand for their attempt to kill a popular Auckland-based radio host Harnek Singh, for his anti-Khalistan stance, reported The Australia Today.

These three convicted Khalistani extremists were Sarvjeet Sidhu (27), Sukhpreet Singh (44), and a 48-year-old Auckland resident with interim name suppression.

These three planned the attack on Harnek Singh for his vocal opposition to Khalistan, reported the NZ Herald.

The attack on Harnek Singh occurred on December 23, 2020. He was stabbed over 40 times and needed more than 350 stitches and multiple surgeries to recover.

The 48-year-old unnamed mastermind behind the attack received a sentence of 13-and-a-half years, with a minimum period of imprisonment of nine years before parole eligibility. Sarvjeet Sidhu was sentenced to nine-and-a-half years’ imprisonment, while Sukhpreet Singh received six months of home detention.

Two men, Jagraj Singh and Gurbinder Singh, were acquitted in this case due to insufficient evidence, while two others, Jobanpreet Singh and Hardeep Singh Sandhu, await sentencing early next year for their involvement in the attempted murder of Harnek Singh.
