Jaipur: Due to technical problems three surface-to-air missiles were misfired during a firing exercise by the Indian Army at Rajasthan’s Pokhran field firing range. These three misfired missiles went out of range and hit the fields in different villages. Loud explosion sounds were heard. But no loss of life or property was reported.

An investigation has been initiated and further action will be taken accordingly. The debris of two of the misfired missiles was recovered. A search operation is on to locate the third misfired missile.  Police and Army teams are involved in this search operation.

The misfired missiles had a striking range of 10 to 25 kilometers. They deviated from their prescribed path due to a technical fault. According to Rajasthan police sources, a missile was found in a field at Ajasar village. The second missile was found in another field. The missile created big craters in the field.
