6 Coaches of Goods Train Derails near Odisha’s Koraput District

Koraput: Six coaches of a goods train derailed near Koraput railway station in Odisha on Friday. According to sources, the train derailed about 6 km from Koraput railway station.

The train was en route to Visakhapatnam from Kirandul. On being informed, railways authorities reached the spot and started to investigate the reason behind the derailment.

Earlier on January 17, the general second-class coach of the Visakhapanam-Kirandul passenger special train (08551) derailed at least one wheelset this morning near Sivalingapuram station in the Kottavalasa-Araku section in the Koraput district of Odisha.

Following the detaching of the derailed coach, Anup Kumar Satpathy, the divisional railway manager (DRM) of the Waltair division of the East Coast Railway (ECoR), and a group of officers hurried to the scene in an accident relief medical train.

The ECoR executive said that accident relief trains had been directed to head to the scene and that police were racing to begin urgent restoration efforts.
