7 Israelis Killed in Terror Attack on Jerusalem Synagogue; Terrorist Shot Dead

Seven people were shot dead and at least three others were wounded in a terror shooting attack at a synagogue in Jerusalem on Friday night. As per reports, the terrorist arrived at the synagogue at 8:13 PM by a car and opened fire at people outside the synagogue and other passersby.

He is said to have waited outside the synagogue until Shabbat prayers ended. Only then he started firing on the worshippers walking outside.

The assailant tried to escape from the spot in his car. But about five minutes later, he was encountered and shot dead.

With seven killed, the shooting in Jerusalem was the deadliest terror attack since 2011, when terrorists crossed into Israel from Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, killing eight Israelis.

Jerusalem terror attack occurred a day after an Israeli military raid killed nine Palestinians in the refugee camp of Jenin in the occupied West Bank. The recent shooting at the synagogue has also happened ahead of a planned visit by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to Israel and the West Bank.

After this terror attack at the synagogue, dozens of Palestinians several held demonstrations to celebrate the Jerusalem attack, with some coming out of dessert shops with large trays of sweets to distribute, reported AP.
