9 Hindu Rashtra Sena (HRS) Members Sentenced to Life Imprisonment in Murder Case by Pune Court

Pune: Nine members of the Hindu Rashtra Sena (HRS) were sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering a Congress worker in 2013 by the Pune Sessions Court. The court also imposed a Rs 20,000 fine on each accused and ordered to pay Rs 1,50,000 to the deceased’s family out of the fine.

The convicts were aged between 21 and 27 at the time of the crime. They had no regret for their crime. According to Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, the assailants showed blood-stained sickles in their hands to the public after committing the murder.

The victim was Prakash Gondhale, a social worker and member of the Congress Party. HRS workers had also attacked a worker at the shop owned by Gondhale before his murder.
