Adani-Owned NDTV Plans To Launch 9 News Channels in Different Indian Languages

New Delhi: New Delhi Television Ltd (NDTV), a media firm now owned by the Adani Group, has announced its plans to launch nine news channels in various Indian languages in a phased manner.

The company’s board, in a meeting held recently, approved a proposal to seek permission from the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting for the launch of these channels, as stated in a regulatory filing by NDTV. Upon receiving approval from the ministry, NDTV will inform the stock exchanges about the launch dates of the channels.

In December last year, the Adani Group acquired a majority stake in NDTV after acquiring the shares of founders Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy. The acquisition resulted in AMG Media Networks Ltd (AMNL) holding a controlling stake of 64.71% in NDTV through its subsidiaries. NDTV reported a revenue of Rs 220.65 crore for the financial year that ended on March 31, 2023.

NDTV’s recent earnings statement for FY23 highlighted the steps taken by the new management and board to invest in content, marketing, and distribution initiatives. These efforts aim to establish a solid foundation for long-term growth and expand NDTV’s presence across different segments.
