Aged Woman Beggar Donates Rs 1 Lakh To Phulbani Jaganath Temple

Kandhamal: A 60-year-old woman, who begs for a living at various temples in Kandhamal’s Phulbani town, has donated Rs 1 lakh to Phulbani Jagannath Temple Committee.

The sexagenarian Tula Behera, who hails from the same area, after the demise of her husband has been begging at various temples of Phulbani for the past ten years.

The woman could save Rs 1 lakh by begging in front of Lord Shiva temple, Jagannath temple, and Sai Baba temple in Phulbani. But for some reason, she did not prefer to spend the saved amount for her own benefit. Today she donated all her savings to the Phulbani Jagannath Temple Trust.

On Friday, she handed over the cash to the trustees of the temple with the request that the money should be used for developmental works.

Tula Behera says that she was only returning the money that society had offered her and her only prayer is that no one should remain hungry. Apart from this, she has also urged the temple committee to build a restroom for the devotees.
