Around 25 Injured in Jallikattu Event in TN

Chennai: Around 25 persons were injured during a Jallikattu event organized in Avaniapuram of Tamil Nadu’s Madurai district on Sunday.
Thirteen seriously injured participants were admitted to Madurai Rajaji Government Medical College.
The Jallikattu was organized at this place on Sunday as part of Mattu Pongal celebrations.
The Jallikattu festival involving bulls is a dangerous traditional sport in Tamil Nadu. Every year several persons get injured during Jallikattu while trying to tame raging bulls.

Winners of Jallikattu events are rewarded with two-wheelers, clothes, jewels, and money.

Jallikattu is organized during Pongal in different parts of Tamil Nadu. Pongal is the most awaited festival in Tamil Nadu. It coincides with Makar Sankranti and is celebrated from January 15 to 18.
