Arrested Khariar BDO to Remain in Jail till Jan 31

Nuapada: Khariar BDO Narayan Sahoo, who was arrested by vigilance officials for amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, has been remanded to judicial custody till January 31.

Following his arrest on Wednesday night, he was produced before the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bolangir. The court rejected his bail plea and remanded him to judicial custody till January 31.

The state vigilance department has registered a case against the erring BDO and his wife under Sections 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b)/12 PC Act.

During the search operation, vigilance officials found Sahoo to be possessing disproportionate assets 106% higher than his known sources of income, official sources said. The assets recovered during the search operations included Rs 3.99 lakh in cash, one double-storeyed building in Bolangir worth Rs.88 lakh, plots in and around Bolangir, Bank & Insurance deposits worth over Rs.13.49 Lakh, ornaments worth over Rs.36 Lakh.
