Asian Games: Multiple T-20 Records By Nepal Cricket Team, Dipendra Singh Breaks Yuvraj’s Record

New Delhi: Nepal’s men’s cricket team set multiple landmark records in the Asian Games in its match against Mangolia. With furious batting Nepal’s Dipendra Singh Airee on Wednesday scored the fastest fifty in the T20 cricket. He reached the half-century in just nine balls to break Yuvraj Singh’s 16-year-old record made in the 2007 T20 World Cup against England. Dipendra remained unbeaten on 52 off 10 balls, his knock was studded with eight huge sixes.

In the group match of the ongoing Asian Games, Nepal put on a massive total of 314/3 against Mongolia. They became the first team to cross the 300-run mark in the tournament. For Nepal Kushal Malla, who smashed an unbeaten century in just 34 balls, became the first cricketer from Nepal to score a ton in the T20 format.

After being put into bat first by Mongolia, Nepal had a relatively slow start. Malla (137 not out off 50b’ 8×4, 12×6) and skipper Rohit Paudel (61 off 27b; 2×4, 6×6) put on 193 runs for the third wicket in just 65 balls.

Paudel got out on the first ball of the 19th over. With eleven balls left in the match, Dipendra new to crease played ten out of them and created history.

For Mongolia, Luvsanzundui Erdenebulgan (1/47), Davaasuren Jamyansuren (1/60), and Mungun Altankhuyag (1/55) shared a wicket apiece.

Notably, Mongolia needs 315 to win. But their batsman failed against Nepal’s bowling attack also. The whole Mongolia tea, about in just 41 runs in 13.1 balls.
