Asphyxiation by Generator Fume Kills 2 in Gajapati Dist

Paralakhemundi: Two persons died and another became critical due to asphyxiation at Sialaliti village under R.Udaygiri police station limits in the Gajapati district of Odisha on Saturday. All of them suffocated because of the exhaust fume of a generator. They were sleeping in a closed room, which got filled by the carbon monoxide-laden exhaust fume of the generator. According to sources, four persons were sleeping in the room when the mishap occurred.

The victims were shifted to Chandragiri hospital, where two were declared dead. The condition of a minor child is critical.

The deceased were identified as Ganesh Nayak (18) and Ambika Nayak (12). According to reports, a generator was used for a marriage ceremony because of power cut. This generator was kept in front of the house of the deceased. The exhaust fumes of the generator entered directly into the room in which the victims were sleeping.

When the persons did not get out of their house, locals broke open the door to find them dead because of asphyxiation.
