Big B took up Karwa Chauth Fast for Wellbeing of Jaya

It may sound unbelievable, but legendary Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan used to fast on Karwa Chauth for his wife, actress Jaya Bachchan. Big B has revealed that he was doing so during the early years of his marriage.

The iconic cine actor made this revelation regarding his marital life during the ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 14’. He told this while conversing with a female contestant, who said her husband also fasted for her during her first Karwa Chauth after marriage. Amitabh immediately added that he was also fasting on Karwa Chauth in the beginning. But later stopped doing it.

Karwa Chauth is observed by married women on the full moon day of Hindu month of Ashwin for the longevity of their husbands. They fast throughout the day. To express his love for Jaya, newly married Amitabh preferred to fast on Karwa Chauth.
