Bizarre Twist in Mamita Meher Case; DNA Sample Fails to Match with Mamita’s Parents

Bhubaneswar: The advocate of Gobinda Sahu has revealed that the DNA test of the recovered body remains did not match with that of Mamita Meher’s parents.

“The skeletal remains recovered by the police and sent for DNA test were not of Mamita. The test has confirmed it,” said Govinda Sahu’s advocate and senior lawyer Debashish Panda.

“The DNA profile of the body remains didn’t match with that of Mamita’s parents. The Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics, Hyderabad had earlier sent a report in this regard to the Balangir police,” he said.

“Govinda Sahu should have been released from jail after police received the report,” the lawyer added.

Gobinda Sahu, the prime accused in the much talked about Mamita Meher case has reportedly committed suicide in jail. He was rushed to the Kantabaji Hospital by jail officials this morning where he was declared dead by the doctors.

He was supposed to appear in the JMFC court yesterday.

Gobinda Sahu, the prime accused in the murder case of popular Sunshine Public School teacher Mamita Meher, was lodged in Kantabaji Jail. Gobinda had tried a prison break of the Titilagarh barracks, as a result of which he was to be produced in the JMFC court yesterday for a hearing in the case.
