BJP Leader Shot Dead by Maoists in Chhattisgarh

Raipur: Two armed Maoists shot dead a local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader in Chhotedongar village of Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district on Friday night.

According to police sources, the victim was the Narayanpur BJP district vice-president Sagar Sahu. A group of armed naxalites allegedly rounded him up at his residence at around 8PM on Friday. The leftist vagrants shot at Sahu’s head from close range. He died on the spot.

Eyewitnesses say the killer Maoist duo had arrived at the home of the slain BJP leader on a bike.

Reportedly, the deceased BJP leader had received threats from Maoists in the past. The naxalites had warned him to refrain from supporting the proposed iron ore plant in the area.
