Body Of Girl, Who Jumped Into Mahanadi In Sambalpur, Found 200Km Away in Athagarh

Cuttack: The body of the Class IX girl student, who jumped into the Mahanadi river from Chaunpur bridge in Sambalpur district was found over 200 Km away near Athagarh in Cuttack district on Tuesday.

The body was found three days after the girl went missing after jumping into the river.

Locals discovered the body of the girl floating in the water on the banks of the river at Kandarpur area under Athagarh police station limits on Tuesday morning. The Fire Service personnel recovered the body.

The deceased, Kajal Sahani left home in Sambalpur for school on August 24 morning. Later she parked her cycle near the Chaunpur bridge and jumped into the river before anyone could stop her. She was swept away in the floodwater.
