Bride Chases ‘Runaway Groom’ for 20 Km to Drag Him to Tie the Knots in Bareilli

Bareilli: A ‘runaway groom’ was chased down by the bride and he was dragged by her to the marriage mandap for their marriage rituals in Bareilli of Uttar Pradesh.

The woman chased her groom in bridal attire for 20 kms. This incident occurred in the Baradari area under Barabanki police station limits.

It was a love marriage but the groom was planning to ditch the girl in the last moment. The woman was in a romantic relationship with this man of Badaun district, for over two years.

Their families had agreed to their relationship and had set up the marriage ceremony to be held on Sunday at the local Bhuteshwar Nath Temple.

But the bridegroom did not reach the marriage venue on the wedding day for a long time. When the bride called him up, he gave the false excuse that he was going to Budaun to pick up his mother.

The bride became suspicious that the groom was planning to run away from getting married. She chased him and managed to catch him while he was boarding a bus near the Bhimora police station, about 20 km away from Bareilly.

The groom had no way to escape. A high-voltage drama unfolded in the middle of the road and the couple returned to the temple to get married. Their marriage was solemnised at the Bhimora temple in the presence of both the families.
