China Again Claims Its Fake ‘Sovereignty’ Over Arunachal Pradesh

New Delhi: China again claimed its fake ‘sovereignty’ over Arunachal Pradesh of India on Tuesday. The Chinese government made this claim after India outrightly rejected China’s attempt to rename places of Arunachal Pradesh.

Speaking to newsmen, China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said, “Zangnan (Arunachal Pradesh) is part of China’s territory. In accordance with relevant stipulations of the administration of geographical names of the State Council, competent authorities of the Chinese government have standardized the names of some parts of Zangnan. This is within China’s sovereign rights.”

The US opposed the unilateral attempts of China to make claims on the Arunachal Pradesh of India by naming its territories. White House also reiterated that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India.

This reaction from the White House was in connection to China renaming 11 more places in Arunachal Pradesh claiming that it was part of southern Tibet.

“The United States has recognised that territory (Arunachal Pradesh) for a long time (as an integral part of India). And we strongly oppose any unilateral attempts to advance territorial claims by renaming localities,” White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said on Tuesday.

“And so, again, this is something that we have long stood by,” Jean-Pierre told reporters at her daily news conference.

The official names of the 11 places were released on Sunday by China’s ministry of civil affairs.

On Tuesday, India rejected attempts of China to rename some places in Arunachal Pradesh. The External Affairs Ministry has refuted the Chinese move to the renaming of places in Arunachal Pradesh. Ministry of External Affairs official spokesperson Arindam Bagchi on Tuesday asserted that Arunachal Pradesh will always be an integral part of India.
