Class 12 Student Ends Life by Consuming Poison, Family Alleges Harassment in Private Institution

Jajpur: A 17-year-old student studying in Class XII committed suicide by consuming poison at his home on Monday night in Jajpur district.

He was studying in the residential Renaissance Higher Secondary School. He was initially admitted to community health centre at Madhuban. Later he was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, where he died on Tuesday.

His father has registered a complaint at the Dharmasala police station in Jajpur district alleging that his son took the extreme step after being harassed by his school authorities.

The institution authorities have refuted the allegations and have alleged that they had informed the parents of the deceased student that he was bunking classes and was also having a mobile phone with him, which was against the rules of the institution.
