Class IX Girl Goes Missing After Jumping Into Mahanadi River in Sambalpur

Sambalpur: A girl studying in Class IX is feared to have drowned after jumping from Chaunrpur bridge into the Mahanadi River in Sambalpur in the wee hours of Saturday.

According to reports, the girl identified as Kajal left home for school on her cycle. She did not go to her school. She left her cycle near the bridge and jumped into the river. Some locals ran to stop her from taking the drastic decision, but before they could reach her, she jumped into the deep water of the river. She was swept away by the strong currents.

The fire department and police rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. Kajal’s body had not been recovered, till reports last came in.

Kajal’s family members were shocked by the news. An investigation into the incident is underway, and the exact circumstances leading to Kajal’s death are yet to be ascertained.
