Congress Leaves Out Maulana Kalam Azad from Plenary Ad; Apologises for Mistake

New Delhi: In its full-page advertisements for the 85th plenary session in several national dailies, the Congress party forgot to include its prominent Muslim leader, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. Several political leaders including those in Congress criticized the party for omitting Maulana Azad from the advertisement.

Congress party had to immediately apologize for it. The advertisement included photos of past Congress presidents and PMs who are no more. But it missed to include Maulana Azad who was a two-time INC president.

This mistake got trolled on social media. This prompted senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh to apologize through a tweet. He called it an “inexcusable slipup”.

“Today an ad released by INC did not carry a photograph of Maulana Azad. It was an inexcusable slip-up. Responsibility for it is being fixed & action will be taken. Meanwhile, this is a most sincere apology from us. He will always remain an iconic & inspiring figure for us & India,” Jairam Ramesh said in the tweet.

The print advertisement had images of Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Patel, B R Ambedkar, Subhash Chandra Bose, Sarojini Naidu, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and PV Narasimha Rao.

Former Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad also attacked the Congress, saying that after my exit from the party, the BJPisation of Congress is taking place.
