Construction of Puri Medical College to be Complete by June 2023

Puri: Construction work for the Sri Jagannath Medical College and Hospital, which is under construction at Baliguali on the outskirts of Puri will be completed by June 2023. This was revealed during the review of its development by the Secretary (5T) to Chief Minister V K Pandian on Saturday.

A comprehensive project report will also be prepared for the overall development and beautification of Maa Mangala Temple at Kakatpur within 15 days. Mr Pandian visited the temple on Saturday morning. Apart from Kakatpur he also visited Puri and Konark to review ongoing projects.

It is proposed to improve the drainage system of the Kakatpur Mangala temple along with the addition of better amenities for visitors. A comprehensive project report will be prepared in consultation with temple servitors, trustees of the temple, and locals. The project plan will be prepared by the Odisha Bridge Construction Corporation (OBCC), Mr Pandian said. This proposal will be placed before the Chief Minister for approval.

He also visited Puri to inspect the progress of the heritage corridor project and that of ongoing work for the Medical College being constructed at Baliguali. In Konark, he reviewed the work continuing for the expansion of the Konark-Chandrabhaga highway, new ring road, and beach development. He directed the officials to ensure the completion of the Konark-Chandrabhaga highway expansion work by April 2023.

Puri Collector Samarth Verma and other senior officials of the district accompanied the 5T secretary.
