Couple shot Dead by Unidentified Assassins in Keonjhar

Keonjhar: Unidentified armed assailants shot dead a couple near their house at Lasarda village under Balani police station of Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Monday night.

The deceased were identified as Laxmidhar Apat and his wife Manjulata Apat. The couple was managing a grocery shop near their house at the village.

According to sources, they were shot at by a group of 4/5 armed miscreants, who came to their shop on two bikes at around 8 PM. They had asked for some items at the grocery shop. For some reason altercation occurred between these persons and the couple.

When it intensified, one of the assailants took out a pistol and fired at the couple. After the shooting, the group fled from the spot.

Critically injured husband and wife were immediately rushed to Barbil government hospital. But none of them could be saved.

Receiving information, personnel of Balani police station reached the spot. An investigation is on to identify and arrest the culprits behind this shootout.
