Court prosecutes 7 people along with the girl’s father in the case of honor killing for love: 6 people have been questioned

Kandhamal: Girl’s father killed her lover for honor. Such an incident has come to the fore. In this case, Baliguda police detained 13 people and questioned them. Out of them, 7 people have been arraigned and 6 others have been kept for questioning, said the police station official.

A young woman from Talipada Basti of Landaga Panchayat Phatkimal village under Baliguda police station of Kandhamal district was loved by a young man named Shukdev Rana of Sharapada village of Boudh district. While the young woman was studying in college, a love affair developed between the two, but in the end, young Shukdev lost his life for love.

On August 26th, Shukdev came to Thalipada to meet the young woman. By this time, the girl’s father was able to talk to Shukdev. After informing the neighbors they dragged Shukdev and beat him up. Sukhdev died on the spot. Sukhdev was thrown into the forest after being tied in a lace sack. Sukhdev’s family reported a missing complaint to the police station. During the police investigation, Shukdev was found guilty of murder. After recovering Shukdev’s charred body from the forest, the police continued further investigation. On Wednesday, the girl’s father, Dushasan Mallik, along with Girish Chandra Mallik, Neelwant Mallik, Bullen Mallik, Yogendra Mallik, Kaviraj Thela, and Sudeep were arrested from Patukipali Barapada village, police said.
