COVID Panic: Woman Locks Herself & Son for 3 Yrs in Gurugram House

New Delhi: A 33-year-old woman remained locked inside a rented house along with her 10-year-old son for three years in Gurugram’s Chakkarpur area to avoid COVID-19 infection. She was taken out of her self-induced confinement by the police on Tuesday.

The door of the house was broken open by a team of police, health department officials, and members of the child welfare department to rescue Munmun Majhi and her minor son. Both were admitted to a hospital in Gurugram.

The woman is suspected to be suffering from psychological ailments. Their astonishing confinement was revealed on February 17 when Munmun’s husband Sujan Majhi, who is an engineer with a private company, approached police regarding the matter.

During her three years of confinement with her son, the woman did not allow even her husband into the house.

Sujan was contacting them only through video calls. He was paying the rent of the house and was also providing all needed items at the doorstep of the house locked from the inside.

Ironically, the woman’s son has not seen the sun in the last three years. She did not even use cooking gas and storage water during these three years in fear of COVID.
