Crime Branch Forms Additional Team to Probe Russians’ Death at Rayagada

Rayagada: Crime Branch has formed an additional team to probe the death of two Russians in Odisha’s Rayagada district. They visited the Sai International Hotel here and conducted an investigation into the mysterious deaths of former Russia MP Pavel and his friend.

According to sources, the Crime Branch constituted another probe team to expedite the ongoing investigations. The 12-member team, which included local SDPO and Rayagada Town police station IIC Rashmi Ranjan Pradhan, went to Room No 203 where Pavel and his friend along with a Russian couple were staying and also inspected the place where Pavel fell from the rooftop and died.

The team interrogated witnesses of the incident. The investigation at the hotel is still underway.

According to the police, Antov died after falling from the third floor of the hotel, barely 48 hours after his companion B Vladimir died of a heart stroke.

Though nothing specific has transpired in this regard, and the police are tight-lipped, it remains a mystery, why a Russian billionaire would choose Rayagada to celebrate his birthday – hard to comprehend!
