Congress leader Rahul Gandhi came to the Lok Sabha on Friday morning. Congress MPs rushed to the well of the House, demanding that he be allowed to speak. The Lok Saba was adjourned moments later.

Congress leaders plan to meet President Droupadi Murmu to discuss the verdict against Rahul Gandhi. Opposition leaders met in the office of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge in Parliament this morning to discuss the future course of action.

Rahul Gandhi was on Thursday sentenced to two years in jail in a 2019 criminal defamation case filed against him for his alleged “Modi surname” remarks. The Surat court immediately granted him bail and stayed its order for a period of 30 days so that he can appeal in a higher court.
