Deserted by Wife, Man from Bihar Threatens Sharad Pawar

Mumbai: The man who was allegedly sending death threats to NCP chief Sharad Pawar and his family was arrested from Bihar on Wednesday. The accused identified as Narayan Kumar Soni was nabbed from Aurangabad in Bihar.

According to police sources, this man behaved in this manner because of disturbance in his marital life. The arrested man claimed to be a supporter of Sharad Pawar and he wanted the NCP chief to intervene and resolve the feud with his wife.

Wife of Narayan, the accused has married someone else without divorcing him, police sources said. The couple has a teenage daughter from the marriage.

As per police investigation, the accused had called up Sharad Pawar’s residence several times in the past and threatened to kill the veteran leader. But his calls were not taken seriously. However, on Monday when Pawar’s birthday celebrations were on, Soni’s threatening calls came again. People at Pawar’s residence then decided to lodge a police complaint.

An FIR regarding the threatening calls was registered at Gramdevi police station on December 12. The arrested accused was transported to Mumbai on December 14 morning.
