Fire Detected in Engine of Calicut Bound Air India Express Flight; Lands Safely In Abu Dhabi

A major air accident was averted when an Air India Express flight from Abu Dhabi to Calicut landed back at Abu Dhabi airport after developing a major problem in its engine. One of its engines caught fire after takeoff. When a flame was detected in one of the engines, the pilots preferred to land back the flight safely at Abu Dhabi airport.

The aircraft landed safely and all passengers are safe, Air India Express said in a statement.

The DGCA also came up with a statement regarding this incident, saying. “Today an Air India Express B737-800 aircraft VT-AYC operating flight IX 348 (Abu Dhabi-Calicut ) was involved in Airturnback due to the No.1 engine flameout at 1000ft during climb”,  the DGCA statement said.
