Former Samiti Member Brutally Murdered Over Suspected Past Enmity In Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: Unidentified miscreants allegedly murdered a former Samiti member in Dhenkanal district on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Sarbeswar rout, former member of Dighi panchayat samiti in the district.

According to reports, the incident took place while returning home from a cashew orchard when some miscreants attacked him.

Subsequently, Rout sustained grievous injuries, was rushed to a nearby hospital and then shifted to Dhenkanal District Headquarters (DHH) Hospital. However, doctors at the DHH declared him received dead.

On being informed, police reached the spot and initiated an investigation. Though the motive behind the crime is yet to be ascertained, police suspect that political rivalry and past enmity might have led to the murder.

The cops have detained five persons in this connection. Further investigation is underway in this regard.
