GST Superintendent Arrested by CBI While Accepting Bribe

New Delhi: A superintendent of CGST was arrested in Gandhidham of Gujarat by the sleuths of the CBI, while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh.

The arrested accused is S. Maheshwari, Superintendent, CGST(Audit), Audit Circle-VI, Gandhidham.

It was alleged that Maheshwari had demanded Rs 2.40 lakh from a man, who complained about it to the CBI.

As per the complainant, Maheswari had demanded this bribe to save him from the Audit that he threatened to conduct.

CBI sleuths had laid a trap. The erring GST officer was caught red-handed while he was accepting the bribe of Rs 1 lakh from the complainant.

Some incriminating documents and Rs 6.50 lakh in cash was also recovered by the CBI from his residence.
