Heat Wave: Summer Vacation of Odisha Schools Extended Till June 20

Bhubaneswar: Because of the prevailing heat wave condition throughout the state, the Odisha government decided to extend the summer vacation of school students. Now the schools across the state will reopen on June 21, informed the School and Mass Education Department.

The summer vacation of school students started on April 21 due to the rise in the summer heat.

As per the schedule, all schools in the state were to reopen on June 19. But because of the blistering heat, the government decided to extend the school reopening date.

The Meteorological Centre here has issued a heat wave warning for several districts for Saturday. An orange warning for the rise in day temperature was issued for districts of Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Angul, Sambalpur, Boudh, Sonepur, Bargarh, Bolangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Cuttack and Khurda.

A yellow warning for heat wave conditions was issued for Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Bhadrak, Balasore and Mayurbhanj districts.
