Hunt for AmritPal: Leaves of Punjab Cops Cancelled till April 14; High Alert for Baisakhi

Chandigarh: To avoid any slack in the search for the fugitive Khalistan supporter Amritpal Singh, Punjab police cancelled the leaves of all policemen in the state till April 14. Security forces throughout Punjab are on high alert as the fugitive Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh has called for a ‘Sarbat Khalsa’ on Baisakhi.

The DGP of Punjab Police sent a message to all the heads of the police offices of Punjab stating that leaves of all gazetted and non-gazetted officers, non gazette officers (NGOs) and EPOs have been cancelled. All previously sanctioned leaves stand cancelled and the heads have been asked not to sanction any fresh leave till April 14.

The fugitive Khalistani leader had asked the top Sikh body Akal Takht to convene a ‘Sarbat Khalsa’ in Punjab’s Bathinda on Baisakhi on April 14.

However, the Sikh body is yet to take a call on the same.

Amritpal Singh remains untraceable since March 18, when he gave police the slip in Jalandhar.
