“If A Girl Is Matriculate, Her Fertility Rate Comes Down to 2 Percent”

Patna: Stressing the need of educating girls, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar informed that the fertility rate goes down with the education of girls.

The Bihar Chief Minister said, “if a girl is matriculate, the fertility rate on an average comes down to 2 percent, and if she has completed school education, it further falls to 1.7 percent nationally”.

The fertility rate for women who passed Class 12 is 1.6 percent in Bihar, said Nitish Kumar. It may be noted that the fertility rate in Bihar is still among the highest in the country. The rise in women’s education seems to be the only way to check it.

The Bihar CM came up with this statement at a function organised to celebrate the birth anniversary of India’s first education minister Maulana Abul Kalam Azad on Friday.

Meanwhile, the Bihar government has decided to make Saturday ‘bagless’ day in all the government schools of the state.
