IRCTC to Customize Food Menu Served in Trains

Railway Ministry has given Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) the flexibility to customize its menu of food items served on trains to include local and regional cuisines.

It also includes food items as per the preferences of different groups of passengers such as diabetic food, baby food, and health food options.

In a statement, Railway Ministry said that for ‘prepaid’ trains, in which catering charges are included in the passenger fare, the menu will be decided by the IRCTC within the tariff already notified.

For other Mail and Express trains, a menu of budget segment items like standard meals will be decided by IRCTC within the fixed tariff already notified. However, the Menu and Tariff of Janta Meals will remain unchanged.
