Jagatpur Bus Terminal Death Case: Accused Arrested in Cuttack

Cuttack: The accused who killed a woman and threw her in a bus terminal in the Jagatpur area of Odisha’s Cuttack district, was arrested.

The accused was identified as Sumant Kumar Jena alias Priya, a transgender. She reportedly strangled the woman with her saree over past enmity.

The deceased, identified as Kuni Sahu went missing on February 7. As her husband was unable to know her whereabouts, he lodged a complaint with the police.

However,  she was found dead at the bus terminal, the next morning with lots of injuries on her body. Police recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem.

After arresting Priya, police addressed media persons and informed that the accused confessed to the crime and gave details of how the crime was carried out. “The accused has been arrested in connection to the death of a woman at bus terminal 8. Investigation revealed that the woman, a resident of a slum nearby was strangled to death,” Cuttack DCP Pinak Mishra informed.
